    Bharatpur-Keoladeo Ghana National Park

    Bharatpur in Rajasthan is renowned for its incredible bird sanctuary and splendid history. It was the foremost state of Jats in Rajasthan, and is known as the eastern Gateway of India. The state has some fabulous places to visit that take you to the history of the place, and it also lets discover the rare array of fauna in its bird Sanctuary.

    The most known places to visit in this town are:

  • Keoladeo Ghana National Park: It is one of the most known bird sanctuaries in Asia, which comprises of some of the rare species of birds like Pelican, Ibises, Cormorants, cranes and many others. The place is a vast expanse of marshy land, hence attracts many foreign birds in the winters such as Siberian cranes, which is a rare sight to behold in the whole world.
  • Bharatpur Fort: The fort is also known as Loha Ghar or the Metal Fort. It was built in 18th century by Raja Suraj Mahal and portrays the history of the place in its architecture.
  • Government museum: Sited inside the fort’s meeting hall, this museum is a repository of inscriptions, sculptures, canons, guns and many other exhibits of the region, dating back to 18th century.
  • Bharatpur palace: This place has a mix of Rajput and Mughal architecture, and it houses a museum exhibiting ancient pieces of art from 15th century.
  • A tour to Bharatpur in Rajasthan can be an adventure one, if you choose to traverse through the place by local modes of transport, which include Cycle rickshaws, Tongas or horse driven carriages and auto rickshaws.
