    Bundi

    Pushkar

Bundi in Rajasthan formerly known, as Bunda-ka-dal is known for its wonderful forts and prolific Heritage hotels. It is one of the two towns made out of Hadoti Kingdom formed by the young Chauhan warriors in 1193 A.D. It is surrounded by the Aravalli Hills on its three sides and is bastioned inside a colossal wall having four gates.

The forts in Bundi add to the overwhelming heritage of Rajasthan. The Taragarh Fort, built in 1354 is a magnificent fort giving perfect views of the sun set in the surrounding countryside. The Bundi palace is known for its vivid Paintings depicting the stories of Lord Krishna and his ladylove Radha. Some of the other sites which are worth seeing in Bundi are Chaurasi Khambo-ki-chatri or 84 Pillared Cenotaph, Rani-Ji-Ki-Baori, Ratan Daulat, etc.

Bundi has some famous heritage hotels where one can live the lavish life, once lived by the royal Kings of Rajasthan, in the regal style. Some of these hotels are:

  • Hotel Royal retreat
  • Hotel Ishwar Niwas Palace
  • Haveli Braj Bhushan Jee
  • The most popular of these is Hotel Ishwar Niwas Palace, which is made on the edge of the Sagar Jait Tank, and is a royal escape for all the tourists. Bundi is also known for the festival called Kali Teej that is to celebrate the onset of monsoon in mid August, and it merges with Lord Krishna’s birthday or the festival of Janamashtmi. If one wants to experience the place in its true essence than one cannot afford to miss all these exquisite places and festivals of Bundi when they are in Rajasthan.
