    The Jantar Mantar is a renowned observatory located near to the City Palace in Jaipur. It was declared as a National Monument in the year 1948. The name "Jantar Mantar" has been derived from the Sanskrit word-'Yantra Mantra', which relates to the instruments and formulae. The Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II built this magnificent observatory in between 1728 to 1734. This astonishing monument represents the creative astronomical talents of that era. It was support that the Jantar Mantar was built to confirm the planetary positions by fetching accurate data. It is the largest observatory that was ever created by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh.
