Mount Abu sanctuary in Rajasthan is a sub-tropical evergreen forest having a plethora of wildlife and unmatched scenery. This Wild life Sanctuary is situated on Aravallis, one of the oldest mountain ranges of India and the only hill station in Rajasthan. In 1960 it was declared a protected wildlife sanctuary and since then it has been a favorite amongst the tourists.
The Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary is a narrow and long stretch on Guru Shikhar, the highest peak of the Aravalli range. It has been part of the Eco-tourism circuit of Rajasthan, as it has a rich variety of flora and fauna. The species of animals found here include Langoor, Sambhar, wild boar, chinkara, jungle cat, porcupine and many others. The place is a bird paradise, as a total of 250 species of birds are found here, with the specialty of the sanctuary being the gray jungle fowl. The place is not just famous of its animals and birds but also its array of fauna, as it has almost 112 families of plants and 81 species of trees. Some of the premium orchids are found here together with herbal and medicinal plant.
One can also visit the temples situated near the sanctuary in the hill station of Mount Abu. The whole place has refreshing air filed with the scent of different flowers found in the sanctuary, and is a perfect retreat from the heat of other towns of Rajasthan. This sanctuary crowning the Royal state is a favorite spot among the nature loving tourists.
