Tal Chappar Sanctuary in Rajasthan is a paradise for bird watchers, as a number of species of migratory birds fly into this place in the month of September. It is situated in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, and is a flat expanse with an assortment of fauna attracting a number of tourists. It nestles one of the rare species of Antelope called blackbuck.
The sanctuary has open grasslands with prosopis and acacia trees, and it also has interspersed shallow low-lying areas. There are small hills on the western side of the sanctuary and the area in between the hills and the sanctuary constitutes the watershed. The place is in the heights of its beauty between the months of September and March when a number of migratory birds settle here. Some of those birds are brown dove, sparrow hawk, short-toed eagle, imperial eagle, green bee-eater, cranes and especially harriers. These birds together create a colorful panorama that is a visual treat to all the tourists.
The beautiful grasslands and colorful birds of the Tal Chappar Sanctuary make the region a heaven for photographers and bird watchers. The gorgeous and picture perfect sights at the time of sunset draw a number of travelers to the place. The place is just 85 km from Chur and hence is easily accessible. One just has to drive a few miles to get to this marvelous land of nature and enjoy all the picturesque beauty.
